Activities
Some people will be passing through on the
C2C cycle route, but for those of you who want to stay for a few days, there
are some very interesting places to visit within easy reach…. e.g. Killhope
Mining Museum, The Weardale Museum in Ireshopeburn, Beamish Open Air Museum is
not far away, there is a beautiful waterfall in neighbouring Teesdale called High Force
which shouldn’t be missed, there is also a very interesting little village called
Blanchland not too far away, which is
also well worth a visit …. and many more places too numerous to mention.
This is of course walking country and there
are a great selection of walks just waiting to be walked. If you don’t come
prepared, you can take a trip down to The Dales Centre in Stanhope (about 6
miles), and get all the information you need.
The weather can be a little inclement, even in Summer, so
please come ready for all seasons !!!
If you fancy a trek on horseback, there is
a trekking centre not too far away, the ponies are very nice, there
is very little road work and most of the treks are across moorland. They have a
very nice indoor arena if you want a lesson.
